January 4, 2016Fitness Tips, Garmin, New Year's ResolutionsBy Rebecca Brown

If you’re finding it difficult to adhere to the resolutions you created for yourself back in 2015, you’re not alone. We may already be into January, but you still have time to rework them. So whether you made hard-to-keep promises or are looking to make some adjustments, we have four tips that will help you keep your 2016 goals.

Be sure you picked something you can measure

Hopefully you didn’t create a lofty goal that you can’t achieve – it will linger and make you feel bad about yourself. Instead, tweak it and come up with a big-picture idea, then spend time figuring out how you’ll tackle that goal. If you want to become fit, decide what that means and set a daily goal. Use an activity tracker to help keep track of steps, for example.

Don’t overthink it

In the same vein, remove the pressure to do something monumental that will change the world (although, we highly support that goal). You can focus on something small, like being nicer to people or meeting more strangers. Just a little token can make a big difference.

Everyone fails

Really, they do. If you were hoping to shed pounds and have found yourself elbow deep in a plate of chocolate cake, just smile through it. Enjoy the cake and decide that you haven’t forgotten about your goal. It’s OK to slip up and take steps back. In the end, it’s all about where you finish.

Be sure to reward yourself

Pay close attention to all the minimilestones you achieve and celebrate when you reach them. Perhaps new workout gear or tools?
