Finding the motivation to run can be hard. Even when you’re training for a race or event, or have a run on your calendar, dragging yourself out the door feels impossible when you’re just really, truly unmotivated.

I get it. Running hurts. Sometimes it flat-out sucks. But when you get a good run in, there are few things that make you feel better. This past weekend, I put my running clothes on first thing in the morning, but somehow STILL couldn’t find the motivation to get out of the house, despite the fact that I have two half marathons coming up.
So what did I do? I chose a new place to explore. I ran to a place I had never run before. And while I was running, I planned out a pit stop where I could grab some water, reassuring myself that it’d be a fun excursion. The result: an unexpectedly long run, and eight miles of training. If I can do it, so can you! Here are some ridiculously simple ways to motivate yourself to get off the couch and go for a run.
