Back in July, when questions surfaced about whether actress Tia Mowry was expecting because of a little extra weight she was carrying around, she posted this classic pic of a pregnancy test to her Instagram account to dispel the rumors. But people are still making comments about her size. So she went on HuffPost Live to set the news straight once and for all. Guess what? She’s not pregnant, she’s just been enjoying life, eating all the deliciousness made on her cooking show and she says, “when I want to drop the pounds, I will, but right now I’m happy with who I am.”
FYI. For all the people that think I’m pregnant. I’m NOT just enjoying life and eating and cooking some great food! Thanks:) again I repeat I AM NOT PREGNANT! ❤️

There’s a deeper issue here though that Tia wants to bring up, that the constant negativity towards gaining a few pounds and not fitting into society’s standards of a perfect body, is a form of body shaming and it needs to stop. Women’s weights constantly fluctuate, and that’s normal, and doesn’t give people the green light to comment about. She mentions a line in one of Beyonce‘s songs, “perfection is like a disease.” Our society is “so obsessed with being perfect,” and she asks sweetly, “why can’t we just be us?”
