Stop what you’re doing and throw out your Soylent bars! On Wednesday, the nutritious start-up company announced that it’s recalled the Food Bars and advised consumers to throw out their bars because they are making people very sick with “gastrointestinal issues.” Soylent is not sure what ingredient is causing such problems, but the company has taken “a precautionary measure” and halted production.
While some may be familiar with the milky Soylent beverage, the Food Bars are 250 calories and filled with ingredients that are 12.5 percent of your daily nutritional needs. They’re “plant-based and protein-rich” and are made with soy protein, algal flour, isomaltulose, and other vitamins and minerals.
“After hearing from our customers, we immediately began investigating the cause of the issue and whether it was linked to a problem with the Bars,” Soylent wrote in a blog post to its customers. “So far we have not identified one and this issue does not appear to affect our other drinks and powder.”
Soylent is still investigating the issue and has stated that it will be reaching out to all customers who have purchased Food Bars and will give them a full refund. Soylent-lovers, take note, and please throw out your Food Bars, then check out these 77 snacks that will satisfy your hunger, all under 150 calories!
