January 8, 2021Flexibility, Stress Relief, Workouts, Yoga, YouTubeBy Samantha Brodsky

As a yoga teacher, Adriene Mishler knows how to make the practice accessible to all levels, and Breath, her 30-day challenge (or journey, rather) that started in 2021, is no exception. It launched on Jan. 1 with an orientation of sorts, and each episode since has built on the foundations of connecting with the breath and moving with intention. Plus, they feature her beloved dog and yogi partner in Savasana, Benji.

“A daily practice can be one of the strongest guiding forces that lead us toward healing and growth on our journey. It can serve as a real tangible pathway toward optimal physical, mental, and emotional health. A road back to our true self, it can serve as a way to release anxiety and feel confident in our bodies,” Mishler posted on Instagram. She continued on to say that, along with breath awareness, “this series is designed to help you build muscle tone, improve spinal alignment, and optimize body function.”

Day one’s yoga flow, seen above, is titled “Invite,” and though it was over 45 minutes of slow movement, it still brought the heat to my core and lower body with some plank poses and lunges. You’ll do relaxing moments of Child’s Pose and Savasana, and Mishler will even walk you though a delightful palm massage that I know I thoroughly enjoyed.

I’m someone who practices yoga intermittently and wants to do so more regularly, and this episode was a wonderful way to ease into the new year after a tumultuous start. Mishler wants you to go ahead and embrace “embarking on a journey for yourself where, on day one, the entire premise is an invitation.” And I invite you, too.

For more episodes of this series, check out the Yoga With Adriene YouTube channel. There’s no need to worry if you haven’t started – you can begin from the first episode and do one video per day accordingly. No rush, just flow!
